PROBLEM
Using Siemens NX 11 to create a real-life render of the outer shell of a consumer product (Nikon Camera) and present Product Visualisation pictures.
SOLUTION
MODELLING
A Nikon Camera was selected as the consumer project to model in Siemens NX 11. By using a real camera to help me accurately dimension and model the product
The button details were especially difficult to model effectively due to the small increments between the extrusions, however it looks effective. Another feature that was difficult was the pattern feature around the main body of the lens. I had to complete it in another file and then assemble. The text details were time-consuming, but I found it makes the camera more realistic when I extruded the text by 0.3 mm to give the visual of it being painted on.
RENDERING
After applying materials to all of the faces I was able to start rendering in advance studio with the aid of scene editor to adjust the background, lighting and shadow effects. Some examples of practice renders are shown below
I had trouble with casting shadows and getting the lighting to properly show when I was rendering. I found using HDRI images proved the best result for the camera however had to save it with an invisible background so to photoshop it into a different background.
PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop was used to enhance the images by adjusting brightness, contrast and hue. Cropping and sizing the image is also important to make the image more powerful.
Below is an example of before and after photoshop was used!
